Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written one book at the moment and working on a second. I was born and raised in the Arabian Gulf, though I am literate in 4 languages. Also a holder of an MBA and enjoy writing so much than I am actively trying to slowly verge towards a career where I will only write.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Sculpting David. Inspired by my own heart-break in college. Also, stems from other stories and events that happened to both myself and others even though the story as a whole is a work of fiction.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes. I love to work at night mostly, either in total silence or with one album playing on a loop. Mel C’s first album. I know, ex-Spice Girl, right?
What authors, or books have influenced you?
All and none. I love Ernest Hemingway and Paolo Cielo even though my writing is not similar to theirs in style but it can be in emotion.
What are you working on now?
The follow-up to Sculpting David. It will be titled “My conversations with M.”
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I say all off them. Casting a wide net is always worth a shot.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Write your heart away and write what you know. I know my emotions and my thoughts and so this is my writing style: emotionally packed first person narrative is what I seem to excel in.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write what you know (from a college English professor)
Know you why (from Simon Sinek)
What are you reading now?
I’m on a Simon Sinek binge at the moment.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Transitioning into only writing as a career and writing in every moment I have to.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tough one. Can I just take a kindle jam packed with thousands of books and a solar charger? If not:
The Alchemist by Paolo Cielo
Harry Potter (any one of the series)
Any book by Malcom Gladwell
