Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m 23, engaged to the love of my life and child’s father. I am a mother of a beautiful seven month old baby girl, named Willow. I started off writing as a way to express my feelings so I would not have to hold them in, and now I write to publish. I have two books, so far, published. Both of my books, Wilted Within and You Were My Light In The Darkness, are two poem books based off of my feelings from the last year and a half.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Wilted Within and it’s based off of going through a hard time in my life, falling into a deep depression and how I tried to get through it. It describes the mess that I had going on in my head through poems.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual, hmm… I start off binge writing, for hours I sit there just writing. Then I continue that process over a few weeks, and when I have hundreds of pieces of paper in front of me, I fix mistake and pick and choose poems I like and put them in an order I like. Maybe not unusual but it is what works best for me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ellen Hopkins, by far one of my favorite, I believe I’ve in a way incorporated her style of poems, in with mine.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m not currently working in anything, as I have been very occupied by motherhood. I am brainstorming in my free time, but I never really plan anything, words and ideas just flow out of me.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon is my choice.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do not think about what people will say about your work. I would write poems or short stories, worry about what people would have to say abouty work, then dispose of it. I could have written several books by now, but my anxiety always made me rethink and dispose of my work. I was always scared about what people would have to say and weather or not they would like reading what I wrote. Some people will like your work, some will not. You just can’t worry about that.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t over think things too much, go with the flow.
What are you reading now?
I am currently rereading the Game Of Thrones series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m not exactly sure yet, I never plan what I am going to write. Sometimes certain things happen in my life and it triggers words in my head, and then they just flow into paper.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Game of Thrones series for sure, The Hobbit, and Milk and Honey.
