About Chinese New Year Greetings For Jok Sings
Instead of simply saying “Happy New Year,” this colourfully-illustrated picture book provides a comprehensive guide to Chinese New Year greetings.
Start off with the basics and learn the titles of those in your family tree. Then, discover popular Chinese New Year greetings that you can say to your elders, peers, and kids. There are even a couple of Chinese Zodiac-specific greetings to try out!
On top of knowing what to say, you’ll also find out what the greeting means and how to pronounce the greeting in Cantonese, with the help of Jyutping phonetics.
Get ready to impress your relatives with your Chinese, and maybe even score some extra red pocket money while you’re at it!

Author Bio:
As an engineer, Samantha is always looking for ways to make things better. As a creative and entrepreneur, Samantha loves creating things. As a Chinese person growing up in western culture, Samantha’s Chinese can use some improvements!
Even though she did go to Chinese Saturday school, her most influential childhood exposure to Chinese while growing up in Toronto was reading dim sum menus during weekly “yum cha” lunches with the extended family.
After graduating, she journeyed on an expat adventure and took on a job in Hong Kong. During those few years, she significantly improved her Cantonese speaking and reading, but she is still lacking a bit in the Chinese writing department.
It’s been over a decade since she’s moved back to Toronto, and things are getting rusty. Because of this, she created the social media account @JokSingJai to get back into practising her Chinese to teach her children.
She posts daily on Facebook and Instagram for @JokSingJai. Her bigger passion projects are her picture books, where she gets help from Chinese editors to get things right.
