About Chloe the “Military Brat”
Chloe lives with her mother, a divorcee who is an active-duty officer in the US Army. Chloe the “Military Brat” starts with Chloe finding out her mother has once again received notice they will be moving to a new place. This will be Chloe’s 4th move in her 11 years of life. Chloe is upset about this and confides in her best friend, Mia. She struggles with her emotions of anger toward her mom and dad for getting divorced and toward her mom and the Army for making her life difficult. She writes in her journal and depends on Mia to help her with these feelings. She also has her cat Luna and the family dog Charlie to cheer her up when she feels sad.
As the months go by, Chloe has trouble staying mad with her mom but still struggles with having to move. They later find out they will be moving to Ft. Campbell and then her mom discovers that one of Chloe’s friends from a previous duty station currently lives there. Chloe is so excited she will not be alone and cannot wait to see her old friend Ella. When Chloe tells her current best friend Mia that life may not be so bad after all, Mia struggles to adjust to this news. She now feels like Chloe is no longer upset about leaving and will leave and forget her. As this is happening, it is almost time for spring break and Chloe realizes once again she will miss out on the fun happening while she is away. Chloe goes to her dad’s house for spring break and realizes life can go on, but she also sees that just as she starts to have fun at her dad’s it is time to go back to her mom’s house and is just reminded how difficult life can be when your parents are divorced.
Chloe returns from her dad’s house after a week of fun and the next thing she knows, it is almost summertime, meaning she will be moving soon. And, she will go to her dad’s house, again. She will spend most of the summer this time so her time with Mia is quickly dwindling. Summer flies by and her time with Dad ends. She is sad to be leaving, but ready to return to her “normal life” with her mom. She is also struggling with the upcoming move. She arrives home in time to complete the packing, has her last outing with Mia, and she and her mom hit the road, headed to Ft, Campbell, KY. Chloe is upset, and her mom tries to cheer her up. As they pull out of the drive, they have an exchange where Chloe gets to see how much her mom really does care.
They arrive at the new house and she quickly runs into Ella. They hug and Chloe is introduced to the other kids – The Cul-de-sac Kids.

Author Bio:
Dr. Zeine was born and raised in a small town in Central Illinois. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a doctor and, after high school, attended Illinois State University while participating in the ROTC program. She graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in science. After graduating as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007, she attended her pediatric residency with the United States Army at Tripler Army Medical Center. While in residency, she was blessed with a beautiful daughter. After graduation, she was moved to Ft. Campbell, KY, and has practiced as a pediatrician and Army flight surgeon. While serving as a flight surgeon, she was deployed twice. In December 2018, Dr. Zeine sustained a traumatic brain injury. After an eleven-year career as a physician, she lost her identity when she could no longer practice effectively as a physician. It was then that she wrote her first book Hot Mess to Wellness. Being a pediatrician in the Army, she noted a lack of books for older military brats. She is hoping her new series The Cul-de-sac Kids will fill that void.
