Interview With Author Chris Cullen
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Chris Cullen. I was born and raised in Canada and have been residing in the U.S. since I was 17. After playing professional baseball and enjoying 11 years at Stryker Medical in both sales and leadership roles, I ventured out on my own. I’m now speaking, leading, and writing in service of others. I’ve written 3 books, most recently (Aug. 2025) I Get To: Change Your Words Change Your Life.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I Get To. 2 years previous to the book being published I completed a full Ironman with the flu. I was in the hospital two days before the race started. I used this mindset and inner talk as a crutch to endure the hardest day of my life. I then went into a full deep dive focusing on what else happens to us and our brains when we choose this mindset.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
If 300 sticky notes at a time on your living room is unusual, I don’t want to be normal :).
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Mel Robbins Let Them, Yung Pueblo Lighter, and Frankl Man’s Search For Meaning. They all played a significant role in the creation of I Get To.
What are you working on now?
Sitting still for one second to enjoy the recent launch. A book on being addicted to outcomes and how we can conquer this obsession is next.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Tapping into my network and amazon. Nothing crazy, I like the idea of bootstrapping my projects for some odd reason.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. The days you’re stuck, just write one truth. The more consistent we are, the easier the good days flow.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
We have the ability to imagine things, but we don’t have a way of proving what didn’t happen. So just take action. Take the step and let the path unveil itself.
What are you reading now?
Good Awkward by Henna Pryor.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Another book coming soon. I’m also speaking quite a bit on I Get To.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Alchemist for sure.
Man’s Search For Meaning.
A comedy so I can laugh here n there while sweating. Broken Banana is hysterical.
