Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Well first off I am an ordained minister of my Lord, Jesus Christ. I came from a broken home with teenage parents. I am a sexual abuse victor and have worked in the children’s ministry for over 16 years as a praise and worship leader. “Honest Prayers From the Average Thirty-Something Woman is my first book that i have written. I also have my own blog www.honestprayersforwomen.com and I have written for www.blogsbychristianwomen.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
In 2017 the Holy Spirit inspired me to write my book, “Honest Prayers from the Average Thirty-Something Woman”, to help minister to women who need honest prayers. At the time, I had a need for honest prayers in my life. I needed help when I didn’t feel like going to work, when I needed joy and coffee wasn’t working, when haters are going to hate, when it’s hard to be nice and when those bad words want to come out! We all live in the same race called life and being a Christian doesn’t mean you are perfect and have everything figured out. Let’s be honest we need Jesus!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t have any unusual writing habits, I write first when the holy spirit inspires and second when I make time, usually at night, weekends, and vacations.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
One of my favorite books is written by Marjorie Holmes, I’ve Got to Talk to Somebody, God .
What are you working on now?
Right now I am in the beginning stages of writing my next book. Honest Prayers for Couples. This book will be written by my husband Paul and I. It will be interesting to have a husband and a wife’s perspective, on the honest things we deal with in life.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Instagram and Facebook ads have helped to promote my book.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
So my advice is don’t give up or get discouraged. God put the desire to write in you, so make it happen. I hear a lot of people say they don’t have time. It’s not that we don’t have time, we don’t make the time. I wrote my first book while working full time, being a wife, a mother to two working teenagers and a 3 year old and serving at my church.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Your natural strengths give you the confidence that you can excel at what you’re passionate about, because you were born that way!” – Marlie Love
What are you reading now?
Heaven Declares by Dr Hakeem Collins and 5 Steps to Finding your Purpose and Destiny by Marlie Love.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Well I plan to write my next book with my husband and continue to help women find their purpose through my website www.honestprayersforwomen.com
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My bible and two blank journals.
