Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Law graduate going into practice next year. I have always had a love for books and increasingly found myself writing during difficult periods of my life. Sometimes I journal, and sometimes these develop into poems. I have a simple writing style as I believe a lot can be expressed by saying a little.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Parts Of Me: Lost And Found. The book is a compilation of short philosophical poems which attempt to capture all the ways I have lost myself, and all the lessons I have learnt along the way.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I get random sparks of inspiration sometimes as I’m drifting off to sleep. I usually get up and quickly note a poem in the notes section of my phone so I don’t lose the idea.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love poetry in general, and my Literature studies throughout school have influenced me, but I mostly enjoy reading the works of Turkish poets.
What are you working on now?
I am not working on a specific project at the moment but I continue to write daily.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am new to promoting but I find blogs very helpful. Connecting with people who are genuinely interested in books is a good start.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write in a way that works with you. Be authentic, and don’t try to change your style for validation.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do a little every day.
What are you reading now?
I am reading Jordan Peterson’s new book ‘Beyond Order: 12 More Rules For Life’
What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue writing and reach out to as many people as I can. You can connect with me on my poetry instagram @parts_of_me_poetry_
