Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have most recently written a poetry collection, but I have written short stories and a few books in the epic young adult fantasy genre.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name is “One Can Heal.” What inspired me to write it was a lot of personal experiences throughout my life. I wanted a way to connect with other people who may have experienced similar things whether good or bad. I feel it is important to reach out and connect with others who have gone through a lot as a way to support them. It’s a crazy world out there and we need to help one another as best we can.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I still write with a paper and pen for a lot of my work. I find it better than typing most days to get my thoughts out.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Authors who have inspired me most recently are: Amanda Lovelace, Susan Dennard, and Sarah J. Maas.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I am working on another poetry collection, a short stories collection, and two novels. All in varying stages at this moment in time.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook has become my number one for the most part as well as a lot of “word of mouth.” I also spend a lot of time researching other methods that I am still investigating.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
“All good things come in time” is one of the best sayings out there. You can’t write and publish one book and expect it to be a big NYT Best Seller. You have to grow your brand, connect with your readers, and never stop learning. Take time to polish your style, research, connect with other authors, and remember that only you can tell your story. You are in control, never forget that.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write without fear” to quote a dear friend of mine Chad. He is a horror writer who believes that no matter what, you have to write without worrying whether or not people will hate your work.
What are you reading now?
I have a massive to-be-read list, but to name a few they are: “No Man Can Tame” by Miranda Honfleur, “Oath Taker” by Audrey Grey, “A Clash of Kings” by George R.R. Martin, and “Bloodwitch” by Susan Dennard.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to release at least one more book this year and begin working on my next big epic fantasy series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tough one. I’d have to say “A Court of Mist and Fury” by Sarah J. Mass, “Defy” by Sara B. Larson, “Kiss of Deception” by Mary E. Pearson and “Truthwitch” by Susan Dennard.
