About Continental Soldier: The Turning Point
After a crushing defeat at New York, and a surprise victory at Trenton, the patriot cause finds itself in an uneasy place. Washington lacks the numbers to drive the British out, and the redcoats can’t establish control over the vast American hinterlands. But the British are looking to regain the initiative, hoping to divide the rebellious colonies in two and destroy them in detail. They’ve sent armies to Canada, hoping to drive south through northern New York, while others march north from the city. If all goes well, they’ll meet at Albany and seal their victory.
The patriots send men north to fight, and Levi Dawson and his friends are amongst them. Seasoned veterans by now, they are willing, but the odds are long. Men are hesitant to fight after the loss of New York, some fearing the cause lost. Others aren’t sure militia can ever hope to prevail over professional soldiers. And if the British do manage to link three armies up in the center of the colony, the Americans won’t have the numbers to stand against them. But the fortunes of war, and the ambitions of generals, are fickle things; and the northern wilderness is a foe all its own. How the war will turn may just depend on this campaign, which will reach its end at a little-known place called Saratoga…
