Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a self-published author of The Ian’s Realm Saga, a six book series that has been made into a short concept film and has sold over 20,000 copies, being a best seller on Amazon in between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson twice. I also authored 12 other novels in the fantasy and historical fantasy genres as well as several short stories and novellas. My WWII novel was based on letters written by in-laws during the war.
I live in the Pacific Northwest, am a screenwriter and an artist also. When I’m not working on telling a tale, I’m planting a garden or taking a walk in the woods with my husband.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Far Side of Heaven
I’ve been wanting to write a cozy Christmas story just for the mood sake, and to make it a sweet romance.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I just write a lot.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Sanderson and Jordan. I love fantasy.
What are you working on now?
I just finished the third book of a trilogy tentatively titled Sword of Cho Nisil and am querying it to see if I can get an agent.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
BookBub has helped me the most in promoting my books. If you can get a deal with them, they are worth the money.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep honing your skills and read as much as you can.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
A good laugh and a long sleep are cures for everything – from a Peanuts cartoon. Of course chocolate helps.
What are you reading now?
Brandon Sanderson’s Oathbringer
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m not sure. I am really looking to get this series picked up and if it is, I’ll need to spend time doing more editing I’m sure. I am considering doing more novellas in the style of The Far Side of Heaven but I haven’t decided yet.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
To Kill a Mockingbird because it’s such a sweet story.
Lord of the Rings
Chronicles of Narnia
And Uncle Remus
