Interview With Author Dale Hartley
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a psychologist, retired professor, and frequent contributor to Psychology Today. My first book, Machiavellians: Gulling the Rubes, explores the psychology of master manipulators and explains how to outwit them and protect oneself. My second book, A Field Guide to Dipsh*ts: The Ultimate Survival Manual,” is currently in publication. I’m now writing my third book, which is about female psychopaths.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Machiavellians: Gulling the Rubes. It’s based on my research and experience as a psychologist and professor.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write a chapter a week, come hell or high water.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Flannery O’Connor, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald.
What are you working on now?
A book that reveals the truth about female psychopaths.

Read widely. Write frequently.
