Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written for a number of TV shows including “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. “Salem Burning” is my first novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
One day I thought, what if someone told a lie and it just happened to be true? And then I thought, and what if that happened in 1692? As soon as I had that, I suddenly saw the entire story of “Salem Burning”. It flashed through my mind in an instant; fully-formed.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write for long stretches – 14, 15, 16, hours – until I’m so tired I no longer know what the words mean.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I like the page-turners: Sidney Sheldon, Jackie Collins, Harold Robbins, Dan Brown, J.K. Rowling.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing the sequel to “Salem Burning”. It’s set during The French Revolution and is entitled “The Witch And The Guillotine”.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve had a lot of readers contact me through Twitter.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write every day and be relentless – don’t give up.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Treat people with respect.
What are you reading now?
I’m re-reading a Sidney Sheldon novel called “The Other Side Of Midnight”. It’s such a page-turner!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to write 7 novels featuring Lilly Parris, the heroine of “Salem Burning”.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“Breakfast At Tiffany’s” by Truman Capote. Every sentence is a Faberge egg.
“Pride And Prejudice” by Jane Austen. It’s a masterpiece and I never get tired of it.
The entire “Harry Potter” series. I really believe that J.K. Rowling is the Charles Dickens of the 21st Century. She has a magnificent mind.
