Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a schizophrenic novelist living in the American suburbs. I have written about a dozen books in a number of genres like young adult, fantasy, horror, and sci-fi. Writing is how I express myself: I can’t express who I am in my normal, everyday life, so I do it with my stories. It’s that simple.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Spaces Eternal is a sci-fi romance novella inspired by anyone who has ever looked up at the sky at night and dreamt of going to outer space and having adventures – combined with the constant desire to fall in love with someone wonderful.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write at any time, day or night, and in any genre. I don’t limit myself to writing the same book over and over.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Neil Gaiman is a great writer who brilliantly creates fantasy imagery. Stephen King weaves a good story better than anyone. Max Brooks writes about characters and cultural breakdown brilliantly. and Toni Morisson wrote a great ghost story to be emulated.
What are you working on now?
I’m about to start something new, something daring, and I have no idea where it will lead.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like promoting on indie websites. They get the word out better than amazon ever can. Sorry.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write! Do it. Write a lot and read a lot. That’s all.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write a lot and read and lot.
What are you reading now?
I am reading the Primarchs series of Warhammer Horus Heresy novels.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to challenge myself to write something less pulpy and more literary.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
World War Z, Grendel, Catcher in the Rye, Beloved
