Interview With Author Daniela Alibrandi
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an Italian writer and I published in Italy sixteen books. I also lived a period of my adolescence in United States, where I studied. My style is very particular, defined as multidimensional, in any literary genre I have tried my hand at. My favorite literary genre is crime/thriller/noir, but I have also written books for children and women’s books. I have five English editions under my belt that have been highly appreciated in the United States. I have won fifteen national literary awards at the WomenArt Week 2022 for my literary career and I am often a guest with my books on RAI, Radio Televisione Italiana
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book in the English edition is “Crimes After Hours” and it is set in the city of Rome and its undergrounds. A shrewish and nosy typist decides to stay in the office after duty hours, to rummage through the personal effects of her hated colleagues, that mock her since years, in search of compromising material to use against them. At the same time and in the very neighborhood, a cynical murderer with a split personality is lurking, intent on carrying out his cruel game, entrusting the choice of his next, unsuspecting victim to chance. The solitary lives of Alice and Cold Hands/Warm Hands are destined to fatally intertwine because of the dark and unknown underground of the Prati district of Rome. The investigations into the trail of senseless crimes, that Cold Hands leaves behind, are entrusted to Riccardo Rosco, a commissioner with a rough character and a disastrous private life. Rome and the particular conformation of its Prati neighborhood, captured in the late Seventies and masterfully recalled, take on a primary role in the unfolding of the events in this novel that, due to its multidimensional shape and high narrative tension, is to be read in one breath.
