Interview With Author Danielle Smith
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Danielle Smith, writing under the pen name Nell Royale. I’m a business and estate planning consultant and author who believes in making financial freedom and legacy planning accessible to everyone. I’ve written and published two books so far — The Legacy Blueprint and its companion workbook — with more on the way!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest release is The Legacy Blueprint: Unlocking Financial Success and a Purpose-Driven Life, inspired by the journey my husband and I took to create our own family trust and business succession plan. We ran into so many “I wish I had known this sooner” moments that we knew we had to share what we learned with others — especially those who feel left out of traditional financial planning.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write late at night when everything is quiet. I also use a combination of structured outlines and voice memos — I’ll often talk through a concept before I type it, especially if I’m trying to break it down simply for others.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m influenced by authors who bring clarity to complex topics, like Dave Ramsey, Suze Orman, and even business leaders like Stephen Covey. On the fiction side, I’ve always loved Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones — the emotional depth and layered storytelling left a lasting impression on me.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently expanding The Legacy Blueprint Series, developing additional books to support people in building wealth, organizing their lives, and starting purpose-driven businesses. I’m also working on publishing a fantasy series for another author — and launching a new educational platform that blends financial literacy with community empowerment.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now, I’m focusing on targeted marketing through social media campaigns, strategic giveaways, and collaborative outreach. There was recently a published press release on PRLog, which has helped attract national attention. I’m also working directly with local schools, libraries, and banks who support our mission and have already approved our planning strategies. Everything ties into our central hub at regal-insight-consulting.online, where readers can access our book, starter kit, and consultation services.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Start before you feel ready. You can polish along the way. Your message matters more than perfection — and there’s someone out there who needs what you have to say. Stay consistent, stay humble, and don’t be afraid to learn the business side of writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” — Gandhi
It’s what motivated me to write and share knowledge in the first place.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reviewing manuscripts for authors I’m helping publish — so most of my reading is behind-the-scenes! Outside of that, I’m revisiting notes from The E-Myth Revisited to refine my business systems.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m expanding The Legacy Blueprint into a full ecosystem — books, workbooks, workshops, and digital tools. I’m also planning a full launch of my upcoming author platform, Green Legacy Academy, which blends cannabis education with generational wealth concepts.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Lovely Bones — my favorite fiction book with unforgettable storytelling
The E-Myth Revisited — a powerful reminder of how systems can transform any vision
The Legacy Blueprint — to reflect on how far I’ve come and where I’m going
A blank journal — because I’d absolutely start outlining the next book under the sun
