Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Daphine Priscilla Brown-Jack is from Houston, Texas. She is a retired Parole Officer, author, inspirational speaker and the Founder and Executive Director of Prevention Zone. Prevention Zone is a non-profit organization. Daphine has been speaking for over 20 years. She was the speaker for the Prison Entrepreneurship for a few years, she was one of the seminar speakers for the Ultimate Women Expo 2016, the keynote speaker at the Texas Voices Annual Conference 2016 and has spoken other local conferences. She has served as panelists at various conferences. She has been a guest on radio show Conscious Mindset KPFT 90.1FM and BlogTalkRadio Show with Funky Writer, Source Nation with Kathy B. I have written only one book so far.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is “The Other Side of the Story”. I was inspired to write my while going through the criminal justice system with my husband that was wrongfully accused. I wanted to share my emotional feeling as a law enforcement officer on the other side of the criminal justice system.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I keep a pen and index cards next to my bed because I actually wake up during the night and write my thoughts and ideas on the index cards.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been influenced by Maya Angelou, Joel Osteen, and JK Rowling, just to name a few.
What are you working on now?
I am not working on a new book yet, but I am working on a nonprofit organization. It is called Prevention Zone. Our goal is to educate middle and high school students about the criminal justice system and providing resources to Exonerees.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Educate yourself, learn everything about writing your book correctly. Don’t just write something without a purpose. Lastly, invest in your book project, it is worth it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Your bestseller is when your book can inspire your reader and keep them wanting more of your writing.
What are you reading now?
I can honestly say that I do not read as much as should, but I actually download a book that I will read next. It is title Clara Brown: The Rags to Riches Story of a Freed Slave.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I will eventually write another book. Everyone who read my book asks when will I write another. So hopefully soon.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
