About Dark Skies: Tales of Turbulence in Paradise
This is a book about expat life in the Philippines, specifically what can happen after the novelty wears thin. Known for blending sharp reportage with personal reflection, David Haldane pulls no punches in “Dark Skies.” These essays draw from his columns in The Manila Times, offering an unfiltered look at the chaos and beauty of life in paradise. From surviving Typhoon Odette and the emotional fallout of the pandemic to cultural clashes and environmental upheavals, Haldane brings his signature clarity and candor to the page. His writing offers a rare blend of historical perspective, personal depth, and narrative drive.
