Interview With Author Darren Council
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I never thought that I would write a book. However, here we are. I was born in Chester, PA (go Eagles) and I love a good Cheesesteak. I am an Army Veteran with seven years served and a tour to Iraq. I am married to the love of my life (18 years), and we have three beautiful children. There are a few things that I am passionate about, and they are Veteran Welfare, marriages, family, and teaching. Through my books, I intend to encourage those who need direction and motivation in heading in the right direction. I’ve currently only written one book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Heroes, Your Community Awaits. I wrote this book out of racial frustration. It was during a time of national media racial tension. I was mad, scared, and worried. However, instead of typing all my frustration through social media, I wanted to do something about it, and that’s how the book came about. I wanted to help my younger self-deal with everything I was seeing. This workbook helps young black males identify the correct people to be around and identify the “hero” from within.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wrote Heroes in two weeks. The future books I have in mind will only take that long. I have a lot of thoughts, and I type fast, so getting the future books out shouldn’t be a problem.
What are you working on now?
I am currently getting my book in front of my audience and letting them know there is a resource out there for them to express their feelings.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have been using Kindleprenuer
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice would be not to get discouraged by sales. Begin to hang around other authors and get inspired by them.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My wife and I are big on families. We want families to succeed. My next book will be, Unscripted Marriage. This book will talk about how having a fun-loving marriage still exists.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Heroes, Your Community Awaits. He-motions by TD Jakes and the Bible
