Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my debut book. It took me about a year to write and is about my experience of moving to the US from the UK and launching my first startup business. I have always blogged but finally took the next step and turned all of my experience into a book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Blow It Up: 21 Ways Your Startup Can Shake Up An Industry And Change The World
Inspired by me launching a custom ping pong paddle company to change the face of the game of table tennis. I wanted to show entrepreneurs that if I can do it, anyone can do it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write more magazine style. I also want to change the face of business books which are typically very boring. Entrepreneurship is an adventure and should be fun. If it is not fun, why are we doing it?
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Richard Branson, Philip K Dick, Elon Musk
What are you working on now?
A book about how successful people became successful. There is a lot of mystery surrounding these people. This needs to change so we can find ways to replicate their success.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, so far it is has been really tough. As a first time author, you are a nobody so getting traction is an uphill struggle. Using my own website and creating social media channels that point to this has helped. Also, getting some support from Facebook Group and Page owners.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You will probably not have a smash hit with your first book but if you believe in yourself and keep going, the momentum and quality content will mean that eventually you are noticed. Then the success will come. As the old proverb says, “It took me 10 years to become an overnight sensation.”
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never ever give up if you believe in your cause.
What are you reading now?
Wolf Boys: Two American Teenagers and Mexico’s Most Dangerous Drug Cartel
What’s next for you as a writer?
A book about success. It will feature entrepreneurs, digital nomads and influencers. It will also explore the idea of success and how it means different things to different people.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson
I, Phoolan Devi: The Autobiography of India’s Bandit Queen by Phoolan Devi
The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart
