Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a computer scientist turned author. To date, I have written four books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Jane Austen was my inspiration for the book. It is something of an homage to her. All the gay romances I had seen appeared to be overly sexualized. I was more interested in the actual romance. So, I set it in the 18th century but gave it a tie-in to present day.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write everything by hand. My writing is not inspired unless I am using a pen and paper. Something about the flow of handwriting brings out my creativity that punching a keyboard never could.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jane Austen, Stephen King, Issac Asimov
What are you working on now?
A screenplay about the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) in WWII. It’s a story about sisterhood and the meaning of true strength.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Goodreads.com
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you have writer’s block, write your story as a screenplay first. Then use that as a template for the larger narrative. It really helped me with mine.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Allow yourself to have a lousy first draft.
What are you reading now?
Maurice by E.M. Forster
What’s next for you as a writer?
Turning my horror books into a web series
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Dune, Sherlock Holmes, The Hobbit, The Stand
