I was born and raised in central Illinois; my mother was a grade school teacher and my father was a high school counselor. I graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in History/Biology Teacher Education and from Illinois State University with an MS in History. My father was a US Navy veteran from the Korean War and my love of history is mainly due to his influence.
