Interview With Author Debadrita Sarkar
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Debadrita Sarkar (20/11/2008) is an author, writer, poet, blogger, and compiler based in India. She has self-published some e-chapbooks. Among those, the widely sold ones are “Nature and Life – A Chapbook,” “Short Poems for Everyone,” and “Life-Changing Quotes . ” She has also started two series of chapbooks , including “Selected Poems of Solitary Thoughts” and “Quotes Book Series. ” She has written children’s books and self-illustrated a picture book, “Seasons,” published on Story Weaver . Her writings have been published in the UK, India, the USA, the Netherlands, Chile, and Croatia. She compiled the book “History Is the Best Mystery” under the former Deepmisti Publication. I have written about 9 books, out of which 5 are chapbooks and 4 are children’s books. I have also started two chapbook series named ” Selected Poems of Solitary Thoughts ” and ” Quotes books series” which includes the other 3 books. In total, there are 12 books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Name of my latest chapbook ( not series) is ” Loved, But Undone”in double editions.
It is inspired by the unearthly romance which might have grew but lastly felt alone due to one sighted love, heart break, deaths etc calamities.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I roam around my roof or infact in my room to get ideas for writting.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been deeply influenced by Rabindranath Tagore, Walt Whitman, Shakespeare and Ruskin bond ( for children’s books).
Tagore’s poems in ” Gitanjali” have deeply influenced me to start writting and shakespeares play ” Macbeth ” and ” King Lear” have influenced me a lot.
What are you working on now?
I am now working on a debut poetry book ” A Poetic Heart”, which will be published under a publisher of India.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up ! People will say many things, but you listen to your heart. If you listened that you want writting then never give up writting.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to get traditionally publish now.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
” Gora” by Rabindranath Tagore
“Adbhut Lalbazar ” by Sumit Sarkar
” Othello” by Shakespeare
