Interview With Author Debra Koelsch
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a certified health coach and triathlete. I enjoy swimming, running, cycling, kayaking, archery, cross country skiing, rebounding, working out, water aerobics, writing, reading, photography, and anything else that sounds like fun. I am always looking for something new to try. I have written three books and am working on two more. I have only published one book to date. The others will be released in the future.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Warning: You Might Feel Amazing. This is a book about how to take control of your own health. It was inspired by my own health journey from a state of chronic disease to athlete. It includes my personal story and all of the frustrations and health challenges I faced. Also, there is information about gut health, hormones, lifestyle choices, fasting, sleep, hydration, building muscle mass, biofilms, inflammation, cholesterol, cellular communication, immunity, and more.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write short suspense stories. These are dream sequences that play out in my head like full-length films. They wake me up at night, and I need to write them down immediately or I will forget them.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Weston Price, Dr. Thomas Lodi, Dr. Tom O’Bryan, Dr. Josh Axe, Dr. David Perlmutter, Linus Pauling, Dr. Kevin Leman, Dr. Daniel Pompa, Lewis Grizzard. I read mostly self-help books.
What are you working on now?
I have written a book of short suspense stories and I am working on a book about my journey as an athlete. I also make videos documenting my journey as an athlete, product reviews, how to make your own clean products at home, educational videos regarding health, and cooking videos.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon or Facebook
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I am a new author.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t trust anyone else with your health or your salvation! There are hundreds of opinions out there on these two topics. It’s important to do your own research because if you don’t, it will literally cost you your life. Pay attention to the people from whom you take advice. Are they healthy? Do they practice what they preach? If they don’t, then move on.
What are you reading now?
“Medal Monday” by Aaron Burros
Aaron Burros was shot five times in a workplace shooting, and as part of his healing journey he decided to run 50 marathons in 50 weeks and document it. I had the pleasure of meeting Aaron at Glass City Marathon and he is a fascinating guy.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I would like to finish up my book on my athletic journey and write a book of short stories suspense stories.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. The Bible
2. SAS Survival Handbook
3. Grimm’s Fairy Tales
4. I Haven’t Understood Anything Since 1962
