Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I love anything and everything related to the paranormal. I love to watch ghost shows even though I make fun of most of their findings. I also can’t resist reading a good ghost story.
When I’m not writing about the paranormal, I am outside. My husband and I are happiest when we are at camp. We also love to hike, fish, and play on any body of water. I have two dogs and a cat that are my fur babies.
The Haunting of Locker 31 is my first published book but I have two completed novels sitting on ice and just started a third. I hope to have them all published within the year.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My current novel is The Haunting of Locker 31. I was inspired to write it for me when I was a teenager. I liked Ghost stories, and I liked reading about teenage drama. I wanted this book to be a mix of those two stories. I also was tired of the ghost story in the creepy house.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so? I set a word goal for myself each day and I do my best to hit it. I have an office and I’m usually in their with my dogs and cat.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Steven King of course. Tana French is another. Mike Omer.
What are you working on now?
I just put a book in the drawer to rest a few weeks. It is another ghost story, this time it is a little darker. It is about kids reading a ghost story while on a trip and facing some pretty scary consequences.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning that! I wish there was a simple way to promote my book but I don’t think there is!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Hire an editor! It is worth the money. They will fix your book and help you grow as an author. Also, develop a thick skin. People can be mean. Sometimes they aren’t even trying to be but they are.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You can’t edit and publish something that isn’t written.
What are you reading now?
As much as I love ghost stories, I have found that I can’t read them at night. I have vivid dreams. Not nightmares but close to it. So I have two novels going right now.
In the morning I’ve been reading: Spirit Legacy by E.E. Holmes
Before bed I’ve been reading: Rhett’s Make Believe Marriage by Liz Isaacson
I just finished The Whisper Man by Alex North. I recommend that.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Publish another book!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Could I bring my kindle? It’s technically just one…
The Shining-Steven King
Pride and Prejudice-Jane Austen
The Hobbit-Tolkien
