Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Dexter Ray a native of Florida, ex-felon and author of “I’m Train Ready!” and “Walk from Bad to Better, Then Run from Good to Great!” For more than 17 years his name was state inmate no. 929681. Prior to that Dexter was a respected talented Florida high school and University of South Florida Bulls college basketball player with dreams of playing professional basketball player either here or abroad. In 1997 he received a life plus 10 year prison sentence in the state of Georgia for bad decisions and was released in February 2012. Since then he has been a successful truck driver and a regular on his former school Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) two television commercials/infomercial seen by millions of people in the state of Virginia where he resides with his wife Raphaela Ray. Mrs. Ray a native of Virginia, is a former high school and Virginia State University track and cross country athlete. She graduated from VSU with a B.S. in Business Management and will be graduating with a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2018. I am a strong minded big dreamer and workaholic who believes anything is possible if we put our minds and hearts into it. And most of all I am a GOD-fearing Man who knows where “my everything” comes from.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Walk from Bad to Better, Then Run from Good to Great!” and “I’m Train Ready!”
These two books were based on my desire and passion to inspire others to never give up in life no matter how bad the situation may be. I believe that if you can dream it, and if you can believe in it, and this is what you want out of life, then you can achieve it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I just think as I write with no hard thinking. Just go with the flow.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Bible and the Webster Dictionary.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a fictional, street thriller/action five book series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method is to promote everyday and hopefully Awesome Gang will help in this area.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Think, think, think and write, write, write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Stay humble and calm in all situations.
What are you reading now?
I don’t have time to read now because I am working on completing books.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully to have the five book series completed and published this year 2018.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, the dictionary, and an atlas.
