About Discovering What Activates You – how to live with meaning and purpose
In “Discovering What Activates You,” the author, Zachary S. Brooks, PhD shares 6 simple steps to move yourself emotionally from a point of grey or dark to lighter spaces. The six chapters are: Awareness, Assumption, Attitude, Analysis, Anchor, and Activation.
1. Awareness. To be human is to be conscious. In this Awareness chapter, You are prompted to do what you know to do: become aware. Being Aware is the starting point for your emotional enlightenment journeys.
2. Assumption. To be human is to have beliefs. In the Assumption chapter, You are invited to dive into your Assumptions and appreciate them before also assessing their benefit for your emotional life.
3. Attitude. To be human is to have a mindset. In the Attitude chapter, You are asked, like with Assumption, to appreciate the Attitudes you have – especially the negative ones – to give yourself a boundary condition of bad attitudes which arches you back to the best Attitudes for you.
4. Analysis. To be human is to consider your opinions. In the Analysis chapter, You are urged to pause after exploring practiced behaviors, sometimes called “instincts” of Awareness, Assumption, and Attitude, and use your frontal lobe to Analyze your emotions and behaviors and how they help or hinder you.
5. Anchor . To be human is to ground your energy. In the Anchor chapter, you are compelled to stop and reflect on the best of you. If you need prayer, pray. If you need to commune with nature, go outside. If you need exercise, do it. Anchoring returns us to the key features of what makes us special.
6. Activation. To be human is to put your best energy into action. In the Activation chapter, you should want to Activate your emotions sufficiently strongly to take Action.
