About Distorted Days
She had no clue what was coming. To be betrayed by her husband and best friend…
If she could speak to them, she would say they have exploded her heart, released firecrackers through her senses. She wishes she could call the police, the ambulance, the fire brigade, to arrest and anaesthetise and waterboard the bastards.
So what happens when your husband runs off with your best friend? When you discover the dead body of an old man halfway through your delivery round? When your house is burgled and you get beaten up? Doris, Andy and Colleen are about to find out. They’re also about to discover that you can find friendship and support in the oddest of places…
Heart-rending, humorous and above all authentic, Distorted Days is an exquisitely written account of the ways in which life can knock you off our feet – and how you can pick yourself up again.
A formidable work.’ Kirkus Review.
‘Fans of Eleanor Oliphant is Absolutely Fine and Three Things about Elise will enjoy this book.’ Love Reading.
‘If you enjoy psychological literary fiction, character-driven stories, this is a book for you. It’s a story of hope and resilience as well as a look at the darker sides of losing one’s husband to a best friend. Doris, the main character, is a quirky, likeable and flawed who certainly has her ups and downs – as we do – vividly described with honesty, realism and humour. Sally Writes.

Author Bio:
For me, effective storytelling is about emotion. All my favourite books are ones that have caused an emotional response; whether that is Stephen King’s It, Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca, or John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath. They’re powerful because they make us feel an emotional pull.
Typically, I have several writing projects on the go, mixing up research with the creative side. Right now, I’m working on a psychological horror novel. More about that soon! I started writing in 2019 after studying for a postgraduate diploma in psychology. In my teens, I discovered Stephen King, studied literature at university and taught English in secondary schools.
Aside from reading, I get a lot of ideas from nature. My family and I live in Shropshire in the UK, a beautiful, rural, historic county. My day job is tutoring and running a farm with my husband.
A psychological thriller, Forgotten Dark, will be available to pre-order in October 2022. My novels and short stories are available from Amazon as an eBook and paperback, B & N, Kobo and Audible.
