Author Bio:
I am a dedicated professional, juggling the roles of a software program manager and a product manager. One would think that would be a key focus of my life. However, my life is far from conventional, as I also shoulder the responsibilities of a caregiver. My elderly mother relies on me for her daily care and additionally, I have been caring for my nephew, Michael, who has Down Syndrome, for the past three years.
The experiences and insights I've gained from Michael have inspired the creation of this children's book – why not write from the heart about the things he thinks aloud and talks to me about?
Being a caregiver is definitely not for the faint of heart! Michael has opened my eyes to the world from his perspective and so now every time I open my mouth to complain, I think about all the challenges he faces daily and yet everyday he usually wakes up with a big grin on his face. This book is from his voice – as a matter of fact the other day at a party he went off and sat by himself and told me "you go mingle and have conversation, I will be over here". I can truly say he inspires me and challenges me (and it can be challenging) to be a better person.
