Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Don Chase and I live just outside of Boston MA with my wife and our dog Lily. I’ve been an author for about four years now and have written four books. My latest was just released, it’s called Strand book 1 “The Antilles” and it’s my first attempt at SciFi.
I never imagined I’d be a writer some day much less have written four books with a fifth on the way. I went to school for Illustration and never took a typing class, but I guess you never can tell where you’ll end up!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My newest release is Strand book 1 “The Antilles” I wrote it because I’ve always loved Sci Fi shows and wanted to try writing something in that genre. My other books have all been post apocalyptic so I thought it was time to try something new.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t actually know if I have any unusual writing habits. I went to school to be an illustrator. I never in a million years would have thought that I’d end up writing books. All four of my books so far have been written while laying on my couch. I guess that could be considered unusual, but very comfy!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I really enjoy Stephen King and Kim Harrison. I also found the first gunslinger novel, The Lord of the rings and interview with a vampire have been very influential to me.
What are you working on now?
I’m going back to the post apocalyptic genre with my next book and picking up where my first series leaves off. I found that I missed the characters from my first series a lot.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I really have to say it’s a toss up between Facebook and Twitter. Both can be huge if they’re used correctly.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write write write. Don’t think about it and don’t get down on yourself and keep writing until the story is told.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write what you know. It’s given me some very realistic characters.
What are you reading now?
Right this moment I’m not reading anything. The release of my new book Strand has taken up a lot of my free time.
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next for me is a return to the post apocalyptic world I created and the characters that I loved in it. I’d also like to work more on turning my first three books into screenplays. Who doesn’t want to see their stuff up on the big screen? I know I would!
What is your favorite book of all time?
That’s gotta b a toss up between The Lord of the Rings or the first Dark Tower book.
