Interview With Author Dr Everest Turyahikayo
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Dr. Everest Turyahikayo is an accomplished author with a notable literary presence. His journey in the world of writing includes the completion of two impactful novels. The first, “Rules of College Management,” stands as a testament to his storytelling prowess and insights into the intricacies of college life. This full-length novel explores themes related to college management, providing readers with a rich narrative experience.
In addition to his novels, Dr. Turyahikayo has extended his creative reach through a collection of short stories, self-published on his website. This platform serves as a showcase for his versatility as a writer, offering readers a diverse range of narratives that showcase his storytelling finesse in shorter formats.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Fraternity and Fratricide is my latest novel. For a long time, I have noticed societys’ tendencies to blame other societies for the ills and problems. Sometimes, societies perceived to be marginalised have conducted retribution on innocent parties. I decided to write Fraternity and Fratricide in order to educate, inspire and let society know that the devil is usually within.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write from places where there are people- coffee shops, restaurants. I can’t concentrate in quit places.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Chimamanda Ngozi’s book- Half of a yellow sun has inspired me.
I have also been inspired by The man who died twice by Richard Osman
Behold, the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue
What are you working on now?
I’m writing my third novel- Forbidden and Accursed.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice to new authors is, put that idea on paper. Do not suffocate your story. Write, write and write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You cannot undo yesterday, but tomorrow is all yours to change
What are you reading now?
I currently read Apples Never Fall.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m travelling to the US for my Postdoc research. I hope to use my free time to start my fourth novel.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. My sister, the serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
2. Half of a Yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
3. The sun also rises by Ernest Hemingway
