Interview With Author DR PC SARKAR
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
A former Principal Scientist, ICAR, Govt. of India, I am Ph.D in organic chemistry, and an alumnus of St Francis’ College, Lucknow, Lucknow Christian College and University of Lucknow. In 2023, I opted for voluntary retirement from active service and returned to the city of my birth to pursue his passion for studying and writing about Lucknow’s lost heritage.
In addition to a specialized book on chemistry and about a hundred research publications in national and international journals pertaining to my scientific profession, I did a series of articles on Lucknow, which appeared in the Heritage Page of the “Lucknow Tribune” during 2013-14. I am active in several fora related to the conservation of tangible / intangible heritage, particularly related to Lucknow city. An avid traveler, I have criss-crossed the country, and also visited foreign shores in a bid to fulfill my passion. I have previously written 3 widely acclaimed books on Lucknow.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book released in September 2023, the fourth in the series, “LUCKNOW CHRONICLES – Memories, Musings, Myths”
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I keep open two files simultaneously on the screen of my desktop. One for the main chapter and the other for the bibliography. I keep updating the bibliography as the chapter progresses, so when the chapters are finished, the bibliography is also complete, without any extra effort on my part.

Works of Rosie Llewellyn Jones, SA Abbas and HA Qureshi have influenced me
What are you working on now?
I am working on my fifth book on the lost heritage of Lucknow
