Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
A computer analyst by day and a hobby writer by night.
I have been writing since I was about six years old. Back then I wrote songs and short stories about school kids that I imagined, at the time, were funny. In my early teen years I started to branch in to “horror” novels (which I imagined, at the time, were scary). When I was about fifteen I read The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the complete Ender series (Orson Scott Card), and the complete Rama series (Arthur C. Clarke) all in one summer, and from then on my passion has been creating fantasy and science fiction stories.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My current series, The World of Jinn, is the first story that I have decided to publish. I created most of it in my early twenties. I picked it up again last year after having worked many years hard at school-too many tech books to read and no time for anything fun! Anyways I am excited to have the first book out, and I hope at the very least people find a good amount of entertainment value from them.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I must use paper and pencil to draft my story outlines. I can’t do it with an ink pen or on a computer, it completely throws me off.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Lord of the Rings and anything by Arhur C. Clarke. It is not just authors however, many stories inspire me and I am a movie fanatic.
What are you working on now?
Completing parts II and III of the World of Jinn. After that I have a science fiction series that I have been dying to get to, it will be based more on true science fiction rather than fantasy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t found that out yet. I am trying a broad range of things so hopefully I can come back and answer this for people based on my experiences.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I am technically a new author. From this I can only say keep motivated! If you really believe you have created something worth while, then keep at it. Keep at it. Keep at it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“If you aren’t on someone’s s*** list you aren’t doing anything worth while”.
What are you reading now?
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
What’s next for you as a writer?
After World of Jinn I hope to get started on a science fiction series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. My Star Wars origami book. (I feel as though I exposed too much of my geek-ness here).
2. Zombie Survival Guide (so that I remember that at very least, things could be worse).
3. A brand new satellite phone guide that only comes in a package with a satellite phone.
