Interview With Author E.M. Johnson
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written one book. I am a teacher and I also have an interest in animal welfare and Christian Education.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Imperfect Lives Perfect Grace
The story of Leah and Tamar
For years I have thought about Leah and wondered how it felt to be in the position of pretending to be your sister and spending your wedding night hoping your husband does not discover that the person he is with is not the person he thought and instead, he was with her sister (Sort of like a soap opera). How can good come out of this? How can God "fix it? God can grace our lives , even after we have "messed up."
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nope. I just try to get the ideas down on paper.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Alice Walker
Earnest Gaines
Nikki Giovanna
What are you working on now?
A Christian Education Handbook
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still trying to figure that out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do it. Write. That's who you are. Write and perfect your craft.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
"Be you."
Our lifelong assignment is to be the best person we can be while being faithful to what God made us to be.
What are you reading now?
The Greatest Burden, The Greatest Blessing by Mark J. Resnick, Alan D. Rubel and
Michael E. Tenaglia. It is about caregivers.
What’s next for you as a writer?
A book of devotionals
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Bible, commentary, a book of World History with emphasis on America, and something light heart and fun, maybe a collection of Charlie Brown cartoons.
