Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Ea and I´m a writer from Sweden. I always loved English and I started learning really young! I studied Creative Writing in Sweden and in the US where I did my BA in Theatre and Media Arts, with Screenwriting emphasis. There I also took Storytelling classes and the whole process of film, from idea to editing.
I have 4 children and I just recently started actually writing my books, but I have been thinking about them and planning for them for 15 years! I worked in a pre-school for 6 years and I studied to become a Montessori teacher, and it all has helped me develop as a writer and teacher. That is why I could write 21 books in a little bit over a month. And I have many more on the way.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book finished is called : “Talk to me about Giraffes”. The inspiration about the “Talk to me about”-series is to give parents (or grandparents) and children a chance to discover the world together and also to get to know each other a little bit more. I have always loved giraffes so this book is filled with beautiful photos of this wonderful animal! It has facts, questions and I try to always include something that is not supposed to be there, to let the children be a detective and find the error themselves!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write many books at a time! I usually don´t have the focus to just write on one book, so I have at least 2-4 books that I am working on at all times.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read a lot of fantasy growing up, especially David Eddings. I also read C.S. Lewis and after skipping the first chapters I also manages to finally read through The Lord of the Rings. After that The Hobbit followed and I really loved the Harry Potter books even though I was initially skeptical because all the hype about them!
What are you working on now?
I am working on a writing course, the next book in the Talk to me about-series, a Storytelling-series to stimulate creativity in the child and a Teach-your-child-to-write-at-home course!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far I have promoted myself mostly on Facebook, but I am learning about promotion every day! I found this site: awesomegang.com and it seems great!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I love Albert Einstein Quotes and so here goes: “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
What are you reading now?
I am reading two books: Lee Child´s “Make Me” and “Utan att Veta” (translation of the Swedish title: Without Knowing) by Sofia Jarlo. I love Lee Child´s books and think that Jack Reacher is a great character. Also Sofia Jarlo is an upcoming Swedish children´s author and it is her first book so I am excited to read it!
What’s next for you as a writer?
Right now I am working on 4 books and a new idea always come before I finish another, so I will keep writing books in new series. I will also work on editing my Fantasy Novel which is long overdue for publishing and once it is released I need to start writing on the second part.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A diary, my Lord of the Rings trilogy and 2 blank books for writing.
