Author Bio:
The author did some flying for the United States Air Force. He looped a Cessna 172 (accidentally). He flew the T-38, a twin-engine supersonic jet trainer, in a mock dogfight. He was pretty good. Ross knows what it’s like to pull 8Gs. Some years later he was selected as a member of the Air Combat Command Inspector General team. The author managed to wrangle a ride with a member of the Canadian aerial demonstration team. The Snowbirds fly a twin-engine jet trainer. It’s a highly maneuverable aircraft. The pilot and the student sit side-by-side. The author’s reputation allowed him to take the controls of the jet. He left no doubt, in the Snowbird pilot’s mind, that he could fly. The author had a long conversation with Brigadier General Steve Ritchie. General Ritchie was the only Air Force pilot to shoot down five enemy aircraft during the Vietnam War. That made him the only Air Force ace of the war. General Ritchie was the inspiration for the squadron commander in this novel. Ross was considered to be among a handful of the nation’s top experts in nuclear warfare. His security clearance was much higher than top-secret. Ross was the commander of the Air Force school that trained young officers to be ICBM launch officers. He lives a quiet life on an unspoiled coast where manatees roll, dolphins cavort, and eagles soar. He writes for fun and sends paperback copies of his novel to those in uniform serving around the globe. He thinks few things are more valuable than another person’s trust. He knows wealth, power, and fame all pale in the presence of real courage and integrity.
