Interview With Author Edward Williams
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Traveler, writer, survivor. Been writing and self publishing for fifteen years, spent five of those (2010-15) travelling the cannabis hotspots of the world and writing feature articles about the global ‘war against drugs’ for Soft Secrets magazine. Aided by a degree in International Relations and Human Georaphy, I’ve learnt to write, format, edit and publish to a professional standard and now I’m trying to take things to the next level by establishing a publishing company.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Framed & Hunted: A True Story of Occult Persecution. Its a freakish, brutal and jaw dropping account of the occult targeting I personally suffered from the year 2000 to 2014, but it reads like a thriller and takes the reader on a whirlwind tour of the world.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I planned and wrote a lot of my latest book down at the allotment, in a shed that I built.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Influenced by loads of writers, from Dickens to Bukowski and Hunter S Thompson to Pedro Juan Gutierrez. Big fan of Snowblind, The Last Testament of Lucky Luciano, Papillon and Mr Nice to name but a very few. These days I stick to supporting other indie authors.
What are you working on now?
Promoting and marketing Framed & Hunted as part of the process of setting up Phantom Ant Publishing.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m finding moderate success with email newsletter promotions and online book club and website listings.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Practice writing in different styles and formats – from poetry to 400 word blog posts and short stories to newspaper and magazine articles. Hone your skills before you try to write a masterpiece.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Go carnivore
What are you reading now?
Manufacturing Global Dissent: WikiLeaks, U.S. State Department, & The Albert Einstein Institute by Gary Bonick JR.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I might try my hand a novel, or some short stories.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A book on survival crafts, a blank one that I could write in and a Bible.
