Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi. I’m a clinical psychologist, hypnotherapist, energy-healing teacher and blogger. In my 23 years of working with people I’ve found that the single most problematic thing people do, that lands them in a whole heap of trouble, is that they DON’T LISTEN TO THEMSELVES. It’s so strange that we do that because we each know deep within ourselves what feels right to us and yet we override that knowing constantly. Then we end up depressed, anxious, unhappy in our jobs and relationships, distressed in our parenting, addicted to various things… When people come to therapy our task is usually to simply look back and find where they overrode their Truth and help them start to live according to their own inner knowing. It works so quickly people sometimes can’t believe it. One client recently looked up at me in our sixth session with huge eyes and a worried expression and asked, “This isn’t a dream is it? This is actually happening to me?” I had to reassure him that yes, now that he had started following his Truth his life really was rapidly improving. That’s why I wrote this book. So more people can learn to do this.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is IF YOU LOVED YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD YOU DO NOW? which is the question we need to ask ourselves to find our own Truth. In it I teach a simple and powerful way to make sure that you start to make choices that will lead you to what you seek.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a parent and have a full-time practice which includes seeing clients, teaching course and running groups. Much of this book was written in the quiet early morning hours when I could just enjoy letting this information stream through me onto the page. I absolutely LOVE the writing process. It energizes and delights me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh gosh, how long do we have?!
Louise Hay was the first self-help book I found at age 15 and it set me on fire! Deepak Chopra, Brene Brown, Joe Dispenza and about a million others have helped me heal myself and bring love and joy to many others.
What are you working on now?
Bringing this to more people through my courses and groups. Part two of this book will come out next year.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website and social media – and in person talks, youtube…
Do you have any advice for new authors?
LOVE THE PROCESS!! Do it the way that is right FOR YOU. Listen to your heart, follow your Truth and CONSTANTLY ask yourself, what will feel most fun for me right now? If I loved myself, how would I do this now?
Then your work will carry the energy of your heart and be a joy for others as well as yourself.
Don’t doubt yourself. If you have the desire to write, it’s yours to write. Just do it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Follow Your Bliss”- Joseph Campbell
What are you reading now?
Ramtha. It’s mind-blowing.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Fun! More writing and sharing this healing information with as many people as possible.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ramtha, Baghavad Ghita, Illusions by Richard Bach, a really good funny novel.
