Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written eight books so far including a paranormal fantasy trilogy, The Ghost Protector Trilogy, as well as several non fiction titles including I’m Engaged! Now What? and Daily Writing Prompts To Spur Creativity.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Book two of the Ghost Protector Trilogy, Ghost Of A Smile, is coming out this month. I am working on book three, Ghost Of A Memory, which will be out in June 2016.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m prone to moving around when I write. I’ll have my laptop set up at the dining room table then I’m off to the couch or the back porch. I usually have multiple drinks going–a water, a tea, maybe some soda. I like to alternate what I’m drinking but still drink plenty of water.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read a lot of different things including non fiction, romance, paranormal, thrillers, mystery. I most recently have been reading a lot of paranormal. I tend to listen to audiobooks a lot as well.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on final edits for book three of my paranormal trilogy–Ghost Of A Memory. I’m also working on a second book of writing prompts. I like to work on a smaller project to help me keep the juices flowing while working on a bigger project.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I tend to just keep writing. I am on twitter and facebook and I have a website (www.ejdivitt.com) but I don’t have any one method to promote my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My best advice is to keep reading and writing. The more you do of both, the better your work will be.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve received is to make sure to write regularly. It’s a lot easier to wait for that elusive muse and be inspired but you get a lot further if you just keep plugging away.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading the Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger and Archangels Enigma by Nalini Singh. The next book on my list is The Like Switch.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m in an editing stage right now. I have multiple books in the first draft stage that have been percolating; waiting for me to go back and finish them.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I could only have three or four books, I would want to bring some long ones. I would include old favorites like the Black Jewel Trilogy by Ann Bishop and include some I haven’t read yet such as the complete Jill Kismet.
