Interview With Author Elaine Wickes
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am retired married living in PA I enjoy storytelling I write romance novels and also children’s books. I live with my husband and four beautiful cats. They keep me laughing with all their little antics.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book was from tragedy to happiness. Nothing really inspired me. It was just my imagination. I was watching a law show, and it just came to me and the relationships came as I was writing the book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual writing habits I’m in order to write my books. I need to be in solitude which I’m assuming most most writers do but I need to be quiet and I go out on my deck with my computer my coffee, sometimes a soda sometimes even a drink and I sit and listen to the birds sing and watch the squirrels run around the backyard and just the regular going on in the neighborhood and then my stories just come to me
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Books like crime dramas , mysteries, and i will admit I do enjoy some of the erotica books i have read.
What are you working on now?
Now I am working on publishing my second children’s book Teddy’s adventures fun in the city. I am also working on my fourth romance novel, which should be out probably in April or May.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My book is promoted mainly on Amazon. I do have two dedicated websites for the romance novels under EW Suzette and the teddy bear adventures is under actually Elainewickesauthor.com. I am also on Facebook. It is a new site and there are not many followers, but I do promote the book there also.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors, my God you need to be very patient and if you have the availability to go to like book fairs, or even flea markets and set out your books, sometimes you can get sales that way me being disabled that is not an option for me so I am kind of bound to the websites and the mercy of Amazon and Barnes & Noble’s. That’s probably my best advice is just you have to be very very patient and hopefully the sales come.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I was told by another author once just be patient the sales will come, and that is what I put my faith in
What are you reading now?
Right now I’m not reading anything. I am just concentrating my all my time on writing.
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next I have no idea, but I’m very happy about what I see in the future more storytelling, more writing romance novels and even more children’s books I can’t wait
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring a mystery a crime drama a children’s book and a book written by Maya Banks
