Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Elena Nix is an author of erotic fiction. A lifetime love of literature and a very naughty mind proved to be the perfect combination for elevated erotica. Her imagination has some dark twists and frequently, her books do, too. When she’s not wrangling wayward characters or taming twisted plots, her favorite place to be is curled up on the couch with her assortment of dogs, cats, and one husband, writing stories on her laptop that would make a succubus blush.
Published works include Out In the Night, Reclaiming His Rights, The Witch of Rosemary Lane, and Passion…or Prey? Readers can sign up to be notified of new releases by sending an email to Elena@NixErotica.com.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Witch of Rosemary Lane was inspired by the beautiful autumn weather, a perpetually dirty mind, and musings about what makes a witch a “witch.”
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I frequently work on several projects at a time, bouncing around between stories as the inspiration hits. It keeps the writing fresh and helps me avoid writer’s block.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Every book I read adds something to my understanding of writing and storytelling. The authors who have inspired and influenced me most are J.R.R. Tolkien, Dean Koontz (early books), Raymond Chandler, and Anne McCaffrey.
What are you working on now?
My current project is Thief. It’s erotic fiction featuring an assistant district attorney turned art thief who is caught red-handed by her admirer.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
www.allauthor.com
Do you have any advice for new authors?
After finishing your book, set it aside for several weeks before you edit it. You’ll catch more errors that way and you’ll have an easier time recognizing overused words or phrases.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
For a very thorough proofreading, use the text-to-speech function on your word processor and listen to your work. It’s very time-consuming, but you will find mistakes and awkward phrasing that you would never discover by reading it.
What are you reading now?
The Drowning Pool by Ross MacDonald
What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing. Always more writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Complete Works of Emily Dickinson, Lord of the Rings trilogy, and The Complete Works of O. Henry.
