What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Forgotten Secrets – Book 4 of my Secrets of the Heart Series. I love to write about strong women, even in the medieval times. In the summer I write from my hammock in my secret garden in my yard. That is what inspired this series. There is a secret garden in all four books, and a secret society of strong women devised by the queen.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
For me, it is all or nothing. I am not one of those authors who can write a little here and a little there. I’ll write sometimes twelve hours a day because when I am into a book I don’t want to be pulled out of it and have to go back and read what I wrote the previous day. That is much too time consuming.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Back 20+ years ago when I started writing romance, it was because I received something in the mail from Harlequin saying I won money and four free books. When my free books came, I didn’t know what to do with them since I had never read a romance before.
I was going to send them to my mother-in-law, but didn’t want to be embarrassed, since I had heard horrible things about these kinds of books. So I read one. It was a medieval called The Saxon by Margaret Moore. I was hooked after that. I loved it, and my mother-in-law never got a one of the books.
What are you working on now?
I am about to start working on May Queen, Book 3 in my Holiday Knights Series that takes place on May Day.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website is http://elizabethrosenovels.com. Readers can see covers and read excerpts from all of my books there.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. When writing a book, don’t keep going back and revising until after you have a first draft. If so, you will never get past chapter 3. I know because I’ve been there when I first started writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way to do it. Or, Just do it!
What are you reading now?
I have a very aggressive publishing schedule as I usually write and publish 10 – 12 books a year. With that said, there isn’t much time to read. That is why I listen to audiobooks instead.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I always have a hundred things in my mind of what I want to write. I have many interests and some of them are books that are not romance. So, we’ll see.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“How to Survive on a Desert Island”, “How to Find Food and Water in Desperate Situations,” and “How to Build a Shelter and Make Fire.” Hee hee. Too many to choose from.
