Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Prancie’s Prayer is my first published book, but hopefully not my last. I did have a story published in 2017 in the book, Black Cats Tell All.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Prancie’s Prayer is loosely based on the story of how our cat, Prancie joined our family. She showed up on a very cold night in January 2005.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do most of my writing with a pen and paper as opposed to typing on the computer.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Doreen Tovey, an English author who wrote about her Siamese cats. And Cleveland Amory, he wrote three books about his cat, Polar Bear. I even named one of my cats Polar Bear.
What are you working on now?
I am working on another children’s picture book about another cat of mine.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I paid for a Goodreads promotion/giveaway that seemed to help. I also have had other blogging friends write reviews on their blogs.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up and be sure to write every day. Just like an athlete needs to practice daily, one needs to write daily.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Advice from James Altucher, author of Choose Yourself. One piece of advice in his book is to literally choose yourself. If you can’t find a publisher for your book then self publish.
What are you reading now?
I am reading several books at once which I always do. Sally Field’s memoir, Writer’s and Their Cats, Twelve Patients : Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to have another children’s book published. I would also like to write a memoir about living with 15 cats.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Cleveland Amory’s Compleat Cat ( includes all 3 of his books about Polar Bear), Peter Gethers’ The Norton Trilogy ( includes his 3 books about his cat Norton).
