Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I emigrated from Austria and became a U.S. citizen, I love living here. I just retired and have all this time to continue writing and reading. K-9 Cop is my first book and I have written a couple of feature screenplays. My book has won 1st place in the Good Read Competition from awomenswrite.com and my screenplays have won various awards.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Book is titled “K-9 Cop Case#1 – The Dreck Report.” I thought a Young Adult book would be a great idea to write for a first-time novelist. I always loved family orientated books and movies and was searching for a story that depicts the human condition with all its splendor and frailties. What better way than through a surly cop who has to go back to earth in the body of his K-9 partner? The cop needs to help a troubled teenager and his dysfunctional family in order to be redeemed.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I just have to push myself. Getting started is the most difficult part. Once I start there’s no stopping me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway and the Israeli author Ephraim Kishon.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on series two of K-9 Cop.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve found that KDP on Amazon is very helpful. The Goodreads giveaway is also a great way to get reviews.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do a lot of marketing. What’s the use if you have a great book and no one knows about it? Marketing is key. The internet is full of services and marketing tips. Beware of high-priced marketing services that bring you nothing. Check out the Writer Beware blog: https://accrispin.blogspot.com/
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just keep writing and more writing.
What are you reading now?
All About My Life by Gerda Weissmann Klein. I love bios, especially concerning WW II and the Holocaust.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m still marketing which takes a lot of time so I hope to devote more time to my K-9 Cop series two book.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, War And Peace (I’d finally get to read it all, what else is there to do on an island?) East of Eden, Gone With the Wind
