Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! My name is Esmeralda. I’m a 28 year old, Puerto Rican, Indie Author; who’s addicted to chocolate and believes in the supernatural. I read Angel cards and can communicate with spirits. (I’m not crazy, I swear!) I married my high school sweetheart and we have three beautiful children. I’ve written one book and am half way through my second.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Wicked Love. It’s a Paranormal Romance that focuses on how far a person is willing to go for love. Life experiences inspired me to write this book. I for one have done some crazy/stupid things for love. Haven’t we all? lol I also got bored of reading the typical vampire story! When my daughters are old enough to read my book, I want them to feel empowered. My main character is a feisty Latina who stands up for what she believes in.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to wear comfy pajamas and fuzzy colorful socks. Don’t judge me!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Esmeralda Santiago, “A House On Mango Street.” That book is deep and touched on a lot of issues I faced growing up in Brooklyn, New York.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing the sequel to Wicked Love. This book goes a little more in depth on that feeling that drives us over the edge.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesomegang.com of course! *wink*
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I saw a quote the other day that rang true for me, “Don’t let small minds convince you that your dreams are too big.” Believe in yourself no matter what. Do your research! Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Put yourself out there.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Stop standing in your own way!
What are you reading now?
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to keep writing until my heart stops.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh, what a dirty question?! How to Survive on a Deserted Island! lol
