Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m currently living in South Africa with my Scottish husband and teenage daughter. I obviously love reading and writing about love and Happy Ever Afters. Sometimes it is difficult to choose between that and my other two loves of painting and taking photographs of anything that catches my interest. I love watching sport – not doing it anymore – especially rugby. During rugby season you’ll find me either next to the pitch or in front of the television, cheering for (and fighting with) my team., It’s probably not difficult to figure out why her debut novel, Eye on the Ball, as well as the series, Playing for Glory, has rugby as a theme. I love traveling, discovering new places with Scotland on top of the list. I’ve written many books (I think about twelve?) but Eye on the Ball is the first to be published.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
In October my second book, Making the Right Call, will be published. Making the Right Call is the first book in the prequel series to Playing for Glory called Kick-Off. It does not have rugby as a theme as it tells the story of the billionaire CEO of the team and his nerdy accountant. My publisher also accepted Running Interference, the second book in the Playing for Glory series which is a second-chance, secret baby romance. It also does not have as much rugby as Eye on the Ball. This is the story of the PRO and his high-school love who is now a journalist at an internet broadcaster.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, not really. I may get up at unusual hours (like three in the morning) to write. That is usually when the muse wakes me up.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Nora Roberts’ books. I guess that’s where I fell in love with Series. I also like Rosalind James’ Escape to New Zealand series.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on three novellas. The one, Taste for Coffee, is already finished and currently with my beta readers. It is the first of free-standing novellas in a series called Taste for Love which I hope to self-publish. Taste for Coffee plays off in Leith, Scotland and the idea has started in a coffee shop. Taste for Wine will be the second in the series and plays off in Edinburgh and Argentina. I’ve just finished Love by Design in another series of novellas called Blue Mountains, set in South Africa’s Cape Winelands. I can probably say that I got the inspiration for the last two in a bottle of wine.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I still have to find that one!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep on writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Keep on writing. The more you write the better you get. And read.
What are you reading now?
I’m trying to read as many books of other authors who follow me. I’ve just finished Terri Rochenski’s Love’s Sorry and am now reading Love’s Revenge, the sequel.
What’s next for you as a writer?
So many stories, so little time. I’m writing a story in my native Afrikaans for a competition, also relating to rugby. I want to finish my next two books in the Playing for Glory series and the second book in the Kick-Off series. They are all three in their final edits. I want to write the second novella in the Blue Mountains Series and the third in the Taste for Love series. I am also attempting to write a romantic suspense. Yeah, as I said, so many stories…
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
3 or 4 books? I hope they save me quickly! If I have to choose, I’ll choose a couple of Nora Roberts’ collections and a Dan Brown collection (I still want to read Origin). I wanted to say I would take a Stuart Macbride but I think I’ll be a nervous wreck if I have to read it and I’m alone.
