Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
So far, I have written two non-fiction books about real estate investing. They belong to a series with seven titles in it. The first book “How Trends Make You A Smarter Investor” is available via Amazon and several other distributors and retailers. The second book “Finding Profitable Deals” is launching on June 27, 2019.
I’d like you to know that this series grew out of some twenty years of professional experience in the world of real estate. And I started writing this non-fiction series while also working on a novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The first book How Trends Make You A Smarter Investor is about nine big trends that affect real estate investment and how investors can gain from them. The second book Finding Profitable Deals spells out many real estate niches – some of which readers may never have thought about-, what makes them attractive, how to find great deals in them, and how to assess the niche, etc.
As a real estate broker and investor of twenty years the books aim to guide others through the vast body of knowledge about the field, to save those who are or want to become real estate investors time, money, and painful lessons. Having read many books on the subject, I realized that most other authors write their books as sales tools for their services, membership programs, and systems. While that is fine, the series I am writing wants to inform and educate and help people make good decisions instead. No hype. No sales pitch.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have a regular writing schedule and also write when inspiration strikes. It’s a great combination.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Many. Among them are Isabel Allende, Eudora Welty, William Zinsser, Joseph Campbell, Carlos Fuentes. These writers inspire me. Others exist.
What are you working on now?
On completing the research and first draft of the third book in the series, a book about negotiation.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Ask me about this when I am farther along in the book promotion game.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write and re-write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Trust yourself – and do the work.
What are you reading now?
Research materials and a friend’s novel.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Finishing the series, then writing my first novel.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Blank journals so I can write. And I love Gandhi’s Book of Prayers, something that might come in handy being stranded.
