Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After serving five years in the Marine Corps, I started focusing more on my writing. In total I’ve published four but I’m currently publishing two under my very own publishing company, Corvus Quill Press. I hope to adapt all of my book into film scripts.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Escape From Sonne Graol; Prison on The Sun”
It’s a mashup of the German word “Sonne” which means Sun and the Irish word “Graol” which means gracious. Put together, it illustrates the desperation of the characters and how bad they don’t wish to be punished by the sun. It shows how desperate our protagonist is.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I listen to film soundtracks while I write. The music from my favorite films like The Matrix, X-men, and The Dark Knight bring inspiration to my characters and their settings.
I also act out certain portions of the story to put myself in the shoes of certain characters.
I have an obsession with Arizona Tea which fuels my writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson,
House Of The Scorpion by Nancy Farmer,
1984 by George Orwell,
Deathnote(Manga) by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata,
What are you working on now?
A book called “Sky City”, which is a post apocalyptic story about a small family, living in an ark. As their food supplies begin to decrease, they must set sail on a flooded Earth, in search of a city that floats above the doomed planet.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I usually film my own book trailers using actors and models and promote on social media.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write from your heart on the first draft. Edit once you’ve completed the book and write a book that you’d love and wouldn’t want to put down.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t make art to satisfy everyone. Make art to satisfy yourself and to say what you want to say. People will listen.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to adapt my works into screenplays and begin my first horror story.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire
Perfect Dark Initial Vector
Maximum Ride: School’s Out Forever
