Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I hail from Tampa, Florida and I am a retired member of the United States Air Force. I currently work with United States Federal Government as a analyst. Most of all I’m a devout Christian serving as a musician in True Gospel Church Ministry and Word Healing Outreach Ministries.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is entitled Weight Loss and it is the sequel to my book entitled 27 Hours. I wrote 27 Hours during the apocalyptic era. I mean there were several end of the world movies going around so I decided to add my book to the pile. I had a lot of great feedback from 27 Hours and planned to do a sequel. I’m just getting around to it eight years later.
Weight Loss takes one of the problems in America, obesity, and uses it to entice millions to accept a chip (the mark of the beast) in their heads. The Antichrist expands the use of this chip to all markets and eventually makes it necessary to have the chip to purchase food and water.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t have any usual habits. I write daily. I have a self imposed goal of 1,000 words a day. My plan is that if I get to this goal I will have a completed novel in two months. If I get story ideas I write them down on my phone (we’re inseparable) then when I get to my computer I write detailed notes on the idea. At some point I pull it out and turn it into a novel.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was actually influenced years ago by Donald Goines. When I was a young man a friend in the military introduced me Donald Goines’ books. I read them all and it was then I knew I wanted to write. What I admired about him most was that no matter how much money he made writing he stayed in hood because that’s what he wanted to write about.
What are you working on now?
Keeping with my 1,000 words a day model, I have almost competed Warlord, the third in the line of the 27 Hours series. Warlord focus’ on the Antichrist’s rise to the top and how he becomes ruler of the world. Bishop Carroll the antagonist in 27 Hours is the protagonist in Warlord.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use a variety of different sites and selling methods depending on the book. I use Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with every book but I also approach churches with my books. I have also mailed copies to mega church leaders in an attempt to gain exposure.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do it for the love of doing it and never quit. I don’t write to get rich, hence why I’m still working. I write because it therapeutic. Creating my own world and walking my characters through it takes me away from any problems or concerns I may have.
For me quitting is not a issue. If you start down this road it’s because you have stories inside of you. Let me come out and share with the world. If you don’t do it for money and never quit someone will be inspired by your writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The answer to this question follows the answer to the previous question. The best advice I constantly get is to never quit. The best quote on the topic I’ve heard is, “I have not failed, I just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” -Thomas Edison
What are you reading now?
I’m always trying to learn new ways and method to discover new readers and I started reading this book today, “Mastering Simple Facebook Ads For Authors: Find Readers and Build Your Mailing List”.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continue to write! I have about ten story outlines in my queue so I’ll be busy writing for quite some time.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would take the Bible for sure. The others would be works that support the Bible. I would take: Pursuit of God with Reflection & Study Questions by S. L. MacGregor Mathers and L. W. De Laurence and Healing the Wounds of the Past by T.D. Jakes.
