Interview With Author Giancarlo Roversi
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a musician and a computer engineer.
I’ve written nine manuscripts. Of those nine, I translated five from Spanish into English. Except for one (a memoir I don’t think I’ll ever publish), they’re all part of the Pulstarverse and take place in a fictional country called Astralvia.
I have just published Pulstar I – The Swan Barely Remembers and its prequel Nerve. Both are also in Spanish.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Pulstar I – The Swan Barely Remembers.
When I was a teenager, at my sister’s birthday party, a guest spoke about a topic that would become my obsession. As I developed the Pulstarverse, that initial idea shifted significantly. Today, the concepts raised in the Pulstar trilogy and Nerve are my belief and my way of understanding the cosmos and existence.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmm, I need music to write. I don’t know if it’s unusual, though.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
1984 By George Orwell
The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov
Dracula By Bram Stoker
Cosmos by Carl Sagan
A Brief History Of Time by Stephen Hawking
What are you working on now?
I’m finishing editing Pulstar II and Pulstar III, plus another prequel named Marlenh. I’m also completing the production of the soundtracks for Nerve, Pulstar I, and Marlenh.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Oops, I’m still learning, and you guys are helping me a lot. Thanks!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Wow, this is a tough one.
They have to love writing, otherwise, there’s no point. It’s hours of solitude and requires an extreme sacrifice on a social, economic, and emotional level that perhaps only other writers or people connected to the literary scene would be able to fully understand.
However, if the uneasiness and the inner burning are there and never go away, we have no choice but toss it out, hoping our message connects with other people.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Go for it. No excuses!
What are you reading now?
I’m not reading any books at present, unfortunately. Time is draining me, mainly because I’m producing the music for the Pulstar trilogy and Nerve, editing Marlenh, Pulstar II, and Pulstar III, plus the promotion, the website … So, I’m just reading articles and watching tutorials related to music production and marketing.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Publishing Marlenh, Pulstar II and III.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Great question!
1984 By George Orwell
The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov
Cosmos by Carl Sagan
A Brief History Of Time by Stephen Hawking
