Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have actually written two books but decided to only publish one. I spent ten long years on the first one and handed it to a writing friend. He said it was too dark and was a horrible book. So I rewrote the entire plot line and it turned out so different it was like night and day.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name is The Shattered Vase. I initially wanted to write a story about being a single mother. Within the first three chapters of my first book, God had kidnapped the story. He transformed it into a story about his fight to show how much He loves us, even through tough times.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
The last one hundred pages of The Shattered Vase were written when I was in severe pain. I had a dislocated fracture in my right collar bone and could barely move, yet I think I wrote the most beautiful ending ever.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My relationship with God and the Bible have been very inspirational in my life. In addition,
I think my children have influenced me. When they left my house to go to college, I began reading what they had written and I was stunned at their brilliance.
What are you working on now?
A Bible Study companion guide to my fictional novel, The Shattered Vase.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method is being kind to others. So far my sales have been only to friends and family. The more friends I can make the more books I expect to sell. I have enjoyed building ads for Facebook but they have not had any conversions to sales yet.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Believe in your dream when others don’t. It doesn’t really matter if you have support or not. The only thing that matters is your confidence in your ability to produce what will make your dream come true.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Pursue your passion and you will never lose your purpose.
( I just made that up right now. lol)
What are you reading now?
Splendor in the Dust which is a story about a missionary in India. It was written by my daughter-in-law’s great grandmother and is a delightful story.
What’s next for you as a writer?
After the Bible Study I will pull together a book based on my blog posts.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, The Shattered Vase, Grace Livingston Hill collection and Jesus calling devotional
